Nintendo Releases – November 28, 2024 – Updates

Last week slipped by without mentioning a couple of notable releases: Life is Strange: Double Exposure, renowned for its retroactive continuity twists, made its digital debut. Additionally, Taito’s classic boxing game Final Blow got its turn as the latest Archives release.

As Thanksgiving weekend rolls around, I anticipated a break from Nintendo of America’s surprise releases. Yet, as previous weeks have shown, those hopes might be unfounded given the frenzy of over 20 unanticipated titles. Among this week’s lineup, Riviera: The Promised Land stands out—it’s a classic strategy RPG that might offer a welcome retreat from family gatherings this weekend. Meanwhile, I’ll be closely watching for Steam Prison: Beyond the Steam. Unlike the original, the fandisc edition won’t burn a $65 hole in your pocket. Another game stirring some interest is Nine Sols, particularly popular among its early fans, while Critter Cafe makes an appearance via the Wholesome Direct. On the quiet side, Broken Reality could very well surprise as an underrated gem.

Switching gears to the retro front this week, there’s Snow Bros. Wonderland, which revamps an iconic stage-based action game. The Epyx Sports Collection emerges, which means you can relive the joy of Hacky Sack among other activities. For those keen on shooters, The Scheme comes to the EggConsole, offering an engaging experience even if your Japanese isn’t quite there yet.
