If you’ve been diving into Marvel Rivals lately, you probably know all too well about the chaos – or fun – that Jeff the Land Shark brings. Sure, he looks adorable, but he’s surprisingly effective on the battlefield. Well, here’s some exciting news that might either bring an early Christmas gift or turn you into a bit of a grouch: Marvel Rivals has unveiled an upcoming festive in-game event featuring a fresh mode where everyone transforms into Jeff.
That’s right, very soon, the game’s Winter Celebration event will kick off, introducing the new Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival mode to the multiplayer scene. This landshark has won the affection of many, not just for his endearing look but for how entertaining he is to play, earning him a top spot on the Marvel Rivals tier list. Chances are, you’ve been on the receiving end of Jeff’s antics, or at the very least, you’ve chuckled at the flood of hilarious viral clips showcasing his shenanigans.
In Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival, players get the chance to become Jeff themselves. By the looks of the event’s teaser, this mode draws inspiration from Splatoon. Two teams of Jeffs will duke it out in an effort to cover as much of the map in their team’s snow, much like painting in Nintendo’s popular third-person shooter. A bar at the top of the screen shows how much of the map each team has claimed, and you can knock out enemy players to make coating the battlefield even easier.
Plus, Jeff is getting a snowy new skin, and according to NetEase, “a special winter greeting card with gifts from Jeff is also waiting for you.” The cool part? Anyone who logs in during the event can nab this new Jeff skin for free.
Moving on to cosmetics, the event trailer also gives us a peek at four festive skins for Venom, Groot, Rocket, and Magik. These seem to be premium options available in the store, but if you regularly play as any of these characters, they’re definitely worth checking out. That frosty Venom skin looks especially awesome!
