Larian has shared that the upcoming Patch 8 will introduce three key elements alongside the usual bug fixes. Expect the integration of cross-play across all platforms, the addition of 12 fresh subclasses (one for each existing class), and a new photo mode featuring advanced camera and sticker settings. They’re still finalizing the release date.
In a candid moment at the Game Developers Conference on March 21, Larian’s founder Swen Vincke shared some reflections on the future of Baldur’s Gate 3. “Baldur’s Gate 3 will always hold a special place in our hearts,” he remarked. “We’ll always be proud of it, but we won’t continue developing it. We’re not planning expansions, despite what people might expect. There’s no Baldur’s Gate 4 in the works either. Instead, we’re setting our sights on new horizons and moving away from D&D to create something fresh.”
