The renowned handheld console manufacturer, Ayaneo, has unveiled its latest flagship, the Ayaneo 3. This new model takes its cue from the successful Ayaneo 2, maintaining a similar design and button layout while introducing significant hardware enhancements.
On their official blog, Ayaneo revealed that the Ayaneo 3 will be available with a choice between two processors: the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U or the more robust AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Additionally, it boasts a seven-inch high-refresh display, with options for either an LCD or an OLED HDR screen, offering an unparalleled immersive experience. To enhance user control, Ayaneo has included two extra buttons on the back of the console.
However, the company hasn’t shared further specifics about the Ayaneo 3 just yet. Details regarding its RAM, storage capacity, and pricing remain under wraps, so we’ll need to keep an eye out for further announcements. Its predecessor, the Ayaneo 2, offered configurations with 16GB or 32GB of RAM along with storage options spanning 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. The Ayaneo 2 started at $1,099 and could reach up to $1,549 for the limited-edition B.Duck model. Considering this, we might see similar choices for the Ayaneo 3, potentially at a slightly increased price point.
Interestingly, the Ayaneo 3 is among the first handhelds to embrace the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor. While most games today don’t capitalize on the NPU within the HX 370, its extra four cores, advanced Zen 5 architecture, and integrated AMD Radeon 890M GPU provide a substantial performance upgrade over the Ryzen 7 8840U. This leap in processing power positions it ahead of many leading PC gaming handhelds, which primarily run on the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
As the Ayaneo 3 enters an already crowded market of handheld consoles, including anticipated releases like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two, all expected before this year’s end or early 2025, it will be exciting to see how Ayaneo’s newest offering stands out. It will be crucial to observe what unique experience it will bring to handheld gaming enthusiasts.
