Recently, the modding community for Helldivers 2 has been rolling out some exciting creations, especially if you’re a fan of games like Crazy Taxi or Halo 3: ODST. One noteworthy addition is the “Warbond” mod, which appears to be the first of its kind, and frankly, it looks impressive.
Before diving deeper, it’s important to mention that this mod resembles a Warbond-like experience rather than a full-fledged official Warbond from Arrowhead. However, if you’re just interested in experimenting with new armor, this mod has got something for you.
The mod, creatively titled ‘Dogmatic Reach’ by its creator, modder Jayypino, offers something unique. It features a mix of new armor sets and helmets that blend Helldivers 2 aesthetics with the iconic gear from Halo 3: ODST. This hybrid design gives you a Spartan-like appearance without being as starkly out-of-place as mods that simply allow you to dress as Master Chief. As Jayypino describes, it’s “something different, but familiar,” enhanced by custom vanilla-styled textures that complement the game’s existing armors.
These new armor sets, which serve as replacements for current in-game options, offer various paint jobs. These include options like fearsome helmet teeth additions and a blue color scheme that pairs with another Warbond-style mod by Jayypino, the ‘SEAF Specialists’ created by The Grave Situation Team.
To try out this mod, you’ll need the latest version of Teutinsa’s ‘HD2 Mod Manager.’ Once set up, you can explore the new armor sets: Chimera, Hydra, and Cyclops.
Beyond this mod, the Helldivers 2 community has recently been buzzing with creativity. A data miner accidentally activated an in-game event they dubbed the Illuminate Aurora Borealis by tinkering with obelisks, and an aspiring artist has designed an intriguing 14-page concept of what an indoor dungeon mission might look like.
