XSEED Games, TooKyo Games, and Media Vision have just released an exciting new trailer for their upcoming title, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, which is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch.
The trailer provides a sneak peek into the diverse cast of 12 characters who form the Special Defense Unit. This team is responsible for safeguarding the school over a perilous 100-day period. Here’s a closer look at the standout personalities:
Meet Takumi Sumino, aka “Everyman,” our relatable protagonist. He’s just your typical high school student from an average family. Though he might waver in his decisions and lean toward pessimism at times, don’t underestimate him—when push comes to shove, his determination is second to none.
Eito Aotsuki, the “Voice of Reason,” stands out as Takumi’s most reliable confidant. His deep-rooted care for his friends is heartfelt, albeit sometimes cheesy. Though frail since childhood, Eito’s sharp mind might be the strategic edge the team needs to survive the impending conflict.
Darumi Amemiya takes on the role of the “Manic Emo Dream Girl.” Her fascination with dark, dramatic narratives is unparalleled, and she’s enthralled by tales of deadly games. Death doesn’t faze her—in fact, she wishes for a departure that’s nothing short of spectacular if it must come.
In the lineup, we also have Ima Tsukumo, the “Twin – Big Brother.” Despite his lighthearted demeanor, he’s fiercely protective of his sister, Kako. Mess with her, and you’ll see a darker side emerge, promising no mercy.
Kako Tsukumo, the “Twin – Little Sister,” isn’t just a daydreamer; she’s a curious mind with aspirations to become a detective. Despite being the younger twin, her love for mystery novels keeps her sharp and investigative.
Then there’s Kurara Oosuzuki, the “Rich Girl Among Rich Girls.” She’s both proud and intimidating, with a mysterious tomato mask that never reveals her true face, coming from one of the wealthiest lineages the world has seen.
Yugamu Omokage, the “Teenage Assassin,” brings a chilling presence. A veteran in the lethal arts, Yugamu has a unique take—he believes assassination should be an act of love. His pastime? Disturbingly gruesome activities.
Kyoshika Magadori, the “Ninja Samurai,” is a timeless warrior with a blind spot for modern-day norms, having never encountered even the simplest math. Her connection to the Holy Jumonji Sword is both intimate and mysterious.
Gaku Maruko, our “Self-Centered Mood Maker,” might initially come across as cowardly, prioritizing his self-interests. Yet, his candid nature is so genuine, it’s hard to harbor any ill will. When he opens up, he shows surprising empathy and care.
Tsubasa Kawana, known as the “Star Mechanic,” brings her expertise in mechanics and a vibrant energy to the team. Unfortunately, she doesn’t handle stress well—when anxiety kicks in, nausea follows.
Hiruko Shizuhara, hailed as the “Ice Queen,” is the commanding force of the Special Defense Unit. Known for her blunt honesty, she’s unforgiving, both in words and actions, especially when she’s tearing enemies apart on the battlefield with a disconcerting delight.
Overseeing them is Sirei, the Special Defense Unit’s commanding officer. This peculiar robot principal has organized the group, assigning each of them the crucial mission of eradicating the enigmatic invaders.
The narrative of The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy marks the first collaboration between Kazutaka Kodaka of Danganronpa fame and Kotaro Uchikoshi from Zero Escape. Together, they craft a riveting story that centers on Takumi Sumino, whose quiet life in Tokyo’s Residential Complex is upended by unforeseen aggression.
Upon awakening to the distinctive power of Hemoanima—bestowed by the enigmatic SIREI—Takumi finds himself thrust into the life-threatening chaos. Thus begins his journey to the Last Defense Academy, where he and 14 other students face the dire task of protecting their world from the School Invaders for 100 days.
Look forward to stepping into this intriguing narrative when The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is available in both physical and digital formats on the Nintendo eShop from April 24, 2025, for Nintendo Switch users worldwide.
