Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, recently expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Nintendo to bring Xbox games to their platform. This suggests that Xbox Game Studios might be preparing to release more of their previously exclusive titles on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
Appearing on Gamertag Radio, Spencer shared his admiration for Nintendo’s creativity and the original Switch’s remarkable success. He voiced confidence that the Switch 2 would follow in its predecessor’s successful footsteps. Although he stopped short of confirming any specific Xbox games for the new Switch, Microsoft’s track record of sharing its exclusives with rival platforms speaks volumes.
Microsoft has made Minecraft available on numerous systems, including the Switch. They’ve also introduced games like Ori, Pentiment, and Grounded to Nintendo’s console. With the anticipated release of the more robust Switch 2 in 2025, it seems likely that Microsoft could bring over some of its graphically intensive titles, such as the Halo series, which were previously confined to Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
Additionally, Microsoft has already made a commitment to take the Call of Duty franchise to Nintendo’s domain. Activision Blizzard, now under Microsoft’s umbrella, already offers titles like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1&2, Diablo 3, and Overwatch 2 on the Switch. It’s plausible that these or their future installments will grace the Switch 2 as well. Spencer hinted that Microsoft’s games would become increasingly accessible across various platforms, suggesting that some of Xbox’s strong 2025 lineup could appear on both Switch and PlayStation consoles.
