In response to growing concerns regarding faulty GeForce RTX 5090 GPUs, NVIDIA has stepped in to address the issue head-on.
### The Investigation into RTX 5090 and RTX 5090D GPU Failures
Over the past few days, gamers and tech enthusiasts have flooded forums and social media with complaints about their RTX 5090 GPUs – as well as the Chinese-market variant, the RTX 5090D – suddenly ceasing to function. Despite numerous troubleshooting attempts, the persistent problem has left many users frustrated as their efforts yield little success.
A handful of tech-savvy folks claim to have found unusual workarounds that offer temporary relief, but for most, the issue remains. NVIDIA, aware of the escalating situation, has assured users that an investigation is underway. PC Gamer relayed a brief statement from NVIDIA, which read:
> “We are investigating the reported issues with the RTX 50 series.”
> — NVIDIA Representative to PC Gamer
Although this statement is brief, it marks NVIDIA’s recognition of the issue. If you’re not up to speed with the situation, our earlier article covers it in detail. To summarize, many RTX 5090 and 5090D users experienced black screens after installing the latest driver update, rendering their monitors useless.
This problem appears widespread shortly after the latest NVIDIA driver installation. Unfortunately, even reverting to an older driver doesn’t seem to help, as the GPUs continue to evade detection on users’ systems. Some have gone so far as to reset their BIOS settings, but the GPUs still won’t appear in Device Manager or BIOS.
The cause remains a mystery, though some speculate it might be linked to architecture or driver compatibility rather than hardware defects. For now, the gaming community is in a holding pattern, eagerly awaiting a comprehensive response from NVIDIA. Until then, the permanent fix for the bricked RTX 5090/5090D GPUs remains elusive.
