The original Arizona Sunshine, a stalwart in the world of modern virtual reality gaming, is preparing to bid farewell to its online multiplayer feature this coming July. This decision follows Unity’s move to phase out its UNet Service, the backbone of the game’s multiplayer capabilities.
Since its debut in 2016, Arizona Sunshine has maintained a strong online multiplayer presence. However, Vertigo Games, the developer, recently announced that it would halt multiplayer support on July 1, 2025. This step is directly linked to the discontinuation of UNet, Unity’s legacy multiplayer framework, which has been on its way out since 2019. The latest information from Unity has made it clear that UNet services will no longer be provided to developers after July 7, 2025, prompting Vertigo’s current decision.
For those who prefer solo adventures, there’s some good news. This change will not interrupt access to Arizona Sunshine’s single-player campaign. Additionally, the multiplayer functionalities in the Arizona Sunshine Remake and Arizona Sunshine 2 will remain unaffected. For existing players wishing to transition, Vertigo is offering a $10 upgrade for the Remake. This offer is available to those who own the original game on Quest, PlayStation, or Steam within the same platform ecosystem.
