Treyarch has just unveiled the eagerly awaited “Shattered Veil” Zombie map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and fans have some good news—the release date is moving up a bit earlier than anticipated!
Originally, the Season 3 content for Black Ops 6, both for multiplayer and Zombies mode, was set to arrive on April 3 following a delay from late March. But Activision has now decided to drop the content a day earlier, on April 2. However, if you’re holding out for Verdansk’s comeback in Call of Duty: Warzone, you’ll still need to wait until April 3.
Now, on to the exciting part about “Shattered Veil.” This new map furthers the Dark Aether storyline that has gripped players in Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode. After gathering the Sentinel Artifact, our team finds themselves at a mysterious old mansion in the secluded, wooded hills near Liberty Falls, West Virginia.
This location might ring a bell—it appears to be the same mansion glimpsed in the original Liberty Falls cinematic. There, players can experiment with new traps like microwave devices capable of incinerating zombies and a Dark Aether Field Generator, which can annihilate the undead with dark aether energy. Just remember, safety first—don’t get caught in your own schemes!
And the mansion is just the start of what Season 3 has in store for Zombies enthusiasts. Alongside new enemies like the Elder Disciple, who floats ominously around the estate, empowering fellow zombies and spawning even more challengers like terrifying Doppelghasts, there’s plenty to keep players on their toes.
Adding a layer of creepy atmosphere, toxic zombies bring an unnerving element to the game. These greenish, skeletal speedsters dash toward you, leaving behind puddles of acid when they explode, all under a shroud of sickly fog.
If you need a hand dealing with these threats, look out for the return of the Double Tap perk-a-cola. Making a comeback from Black Ops 3, it’s now available on Shattered Veil and other maps via the Der Wunderfizz machine. The perk offers augments like Double Jeopardy and Double Impact, making your weapons even more formidable.
In Season 3, expect to see new wonder weapons, too. The Ray Gun Mark II gets a three-round burst update and variants with unique patterns like SMG-like sprays and shotgun blasts. Meanwhile, the Wunderwaffe DG-2 delivers chain-lightning blasts, potentially stunning groups of zombies for extra damage.
Additionally, three new Gobblegums enhance your loadout across all maps, including Tactical Diffusion, giving tactical adjustments during zombie-slaying chaos.
The return of the Death Machine scorestreak also lets you craft powerful solutions in Zombies gameplay.
As we approach the midseason refresh, expect Directed Mode for Shattered Veil, bringing unique experiences, plus a limited-time Team Cranked mode and a new Frost Blast field upgrade.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is ready for action on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC via Steam, Battle.net, the Microsoft Store, and Xbox app. A free trial, featuring Zombies content, kicks off with Season 2 on April 2 at 9 AM PT on all platforms. However, if you’re more of an Xbox Game Pass kind of player, your journey into this undead adventure can begin right away.
