The team at indie XR studio, The Binary Mill, has exciting news for PSVR 2 enthusiasts: their space-faring mining adventure, Into Black (2024), is set to land on the platform. Previously, this Deep Rock Galactic-style game was exclusive to Quest, but not for much longer.
Initially, Into Black made its debut on Quest in October and has since attracted players with its engaging mix of scavenging resources, tool upgrades, and ship repairs. As you journey through more than 20 levels, you’ll navigate various distinct biomes, facing off against unique adversaries as you hunt for the essential parts needed to escape a perilous alien environment.
But that’s not all; the PSVR 2 version is launching with a new mode called ‘Singularity’. This Player vs. Player vs. Environment (PvPvE) option pits you against up to 11 other players in an online competitive setting. The Binary Mill describes this mode as an intense challenge where you must manage both alliances and rivalries while collecting loot. However, don’t let greed be your downfall!
In bringing the game to PSVR 2, the studio has implemented a host of upgrades. Expect remastered environments paired with enhanced dynamic lighting and shadows, HDR visuals, and eye-tracked foveated rendering. Plus, the adaptive triggers of the PS Sense controller and the headset’s rumble feature promise a more immersive experience through advanced haptics.
Currently, cross-play with Quest is not on the table for the PSVR 2 release, as confirmed by the studio.
While a detailed trailer showcasing all these PSVR 2 enhancements isn’t available just yet, The Binary Mill has offered some tantalizing teaser images and gifs to hint at what’s to come.
There’s still no official release date, but The Binary Mill assures fans it will be “soon”. In the meantime, eager players can add Into Black to their wishlist on the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2.
