Dead by Daylight has rolled out Update 8.6.2, with a clear mission to address issues surrounding its latest Killer. This marks the third update for the game this month, but it’s distinctly focused, zeroing in on balancing The Ghoul.
For over a year, fans of Dead by Daylight had fun uncovering in-game Easter eggs while speculating about a potential Tokyo Ghoul crossover. On April 2, this crossover became a reality, bringing forth anime’s popular character Ken Kaneki as The Ghoul. The Ghoul, known for his agility, challenges players to hunt down Survivors using his tentacles and the unique Kagune Leap ability to close gaps and inflict damage.
Going by the latest patch notes, it seems The Ghoul was a bit too much for some Survivors to handle. The development team at Behaviour Interactive has decided to implement several adjustments. These changes aim to reduce his reach, shorten the duration of his Enraged Mode, make it more challenging for him to target and grab Survivors, and impose cooldowns on using the Kagune Leap. Notably, the tentacle range is now two meters shorter, the Enraged Mode lasts five seconds less, and the bonus time from successful grabs is cut down by five seconds. Reticle stickiness time when targeting has been nearly halved, and breaking a pallet now forces a Kagune Leap cooldown. These tweaks follow a series of bug fixes released on April 9.
The 8.6.2 update also brings improvements to Dead by Daylight’s Blood Moon game mode. This limited-time event, running until April 29, revives a mode from 2024. Unlike previous updates, this patch primarily addresses bugs in Blood Moon, such as ensuring the Blood Can doesn’t clip through the ground, capping the Blood Point accrual for the Jerry Blood Can, and crediting players with objective points when interacting with Fuel Generators.
Besides these, the update includes a myriad of other bug fixes addressing individual characters, maps, perks, and user interface issues. However, one thing left unmentioned in the patch notes is the much-anticipated creator code feature, leaving gamers eagerly waiting for further updates on this front.
