Minisforum recently unveiled its upcoming range of products powered by the latest AMD Ryzen CPUs, including a new Mobile on Desktop (MoTD) motherboard and a Mini PC, both featuring the impressive Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" processor.
Introducing Minisforum’s Latest Creations: The Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" in MoTD and Mini PC Formats
Showcased at the "Japan IT Spring Week," Minisforum’s newest lineup includes a diverse array of AMD Ryzen-equipped devices designed to cater to various needs. Among these are Mobile on Desktop (MoTD) motherboards, cutting-edge Mini PCs, and advanced NAS systems.
A Closer Look at the Minisforum F1FGM MoTD Motherboard
Kickstarting this exciting lineup is the F1FGM motherboard, a new addition to Minisforum’s MoTD series. Sporting a mATX design, it comes equipped with substantial heatsinks covering the VRMs, M.2 slots, PCH, and a sturdy IO cover. Building on the success of the BD770i and BD790i series with their Dragon Range "Ryzen 7000HX" chips, this model takes a leap forward with the Fire Range "Ryzen 9000HX" series.
This MoTD platform supports configurations up to an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX, featuring a robust 16-core, 32-thread setup based on the cutting-edge Zen 5 architecture. The processor boasts a turbo speed reaching up to 5.4 GHz and includes a hefty 64 MB of L3 cache. Defaulted at 55W, this desktop-quality "mobile" chip can be elevated to 160W, promising a stellar performance experience.
What about cooling? The setup utilizes a cooler mounted over a vapor chamber baseplate, especially since the mobile CPUs swap out the traditional IHS. The 13-phase Duet rail VRM configuration, backed by 60A SPS power stages, ensures steady power delivery.
In terms of memory and storage options, the motherboard offers four DDR5 DIMM slots, compatible with up to 256 GB and speeds soaring up to 8000 MT/s. It also features an X870M chipset, comparable to the B850 series. Connectivity options include two PCIe slots (5.0 x16 and 4.0 x16), three M.2 slots—one rated for Gen5x4 speeds—along with two SATA III ports, and cutting-edge interfaces like USB4, 5GbE LAN, and Wi-Fi 7. Additionally, it features two BIOS DEBUG LEDs.
The Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC: Compact Yet Powerful with Fire Range CPUs
The MS-A2 Mini PC takes its cue from the successful MS-A1 series while significantly upgrading with Fire Range CPUs. This mini powerhouse incorporates advanced IO solutions, including three M.2 slots (one convertible to U.2), a blazing 10 GbE LAN thanks to an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot ready for a low-profile card.
Unlike its MoTD counterpart, the Mini PC sports a different motherboard layout with two SO-DIMM slots that accommodate up to 96 GB of memory at speeds up to 5200 MT/s. It also features generous connectivity options including USB 3.2 Gen Type-C and Gen 2 ports, USB 2.0, dual 10 GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, and dual display outputs through DP and HDMI.
Unveiling the Minisforum N5 PRO: Strix Power Translated Into a NAS System
Rounding out this impressive showcase is the N5 PRO NAS system, which taps into Strix power and leverages the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU with 12 cores, 24 threads, and the Radeon 890M integrated GPU. This NAS is equipped with five 3.5-inch bays that support RAID configurations, paired with a toolless design for hassle-free drive swapping.
The bays are designed to handle up to 22 TB of HDD space each, complemented by three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots (2x Gen4x1 and 1x Gen4x2). Interface-wise, it offers a 10 GbE and a 5 GbE Ethernet port, along with three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports.
Minisforum plans to roll out these innovative solutions soon, so keep an eye out for more details as they become available!
