Overwatch 2 is gearing up for an exciting crossover with Gundam Wing, featuring new skins for heroes like Mercy, Reaper, and Soldier: 76, all inspired by iconic mechs from the anime series.
Fans of Overwatch 2 have already enjoyed collaborations with anime series such as One-Punch Man, Cowboy Bebop, and My Hero Academia, bringing unique skins and cosmetic items into the game. The upcoming Gundam Wing crossover is set to launch on April 29, but while leaked images have surfaced, details regarding pricing are still under wraps.
Before the official release, leaks revealed which Overwatch 2 heroes are getting the Gundam-themed skins. Mercy’s skin, inspired by the XXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero, joins Soldier: 76’s OZ-00MS Tallgeese look. Reaper’s new attire comes from the XXXG-01D Gundam Deathscythe, while Ramattra’s design is based on the OZ-13MS Gundam Epyon. This pattern aligns with prior leaks hinting at these characters.
The Gundam Wing anime first aired in 1995 and is a single-season series with 49 episodes. It was the first Gundam anime to be broadcast on American TV, following five scientists who seek revenge on the oppressive OZ organization. They recruit five young pilots to control advanced mobile suits, including Wing Zero, piloted by Heero Yuy, and Deathscythe, controlled by Duo Maxwell. Tallgeese’s Zechs Merquise ultimately takes command of Epyon, originally piloted by Yuy.
With the April 29 launch approaching, gamers are eagerly awaiting more official announcements from Blizzard. Whether there will be bundles, additional items like emotes, or sprays isn’t clear yet. However, fans can still explore other skin series such as Dokiwatch, which transforms heroes like Widowmaker and D.Va into magical girl characters.
This collaboration is the latest endeavor to merge Overwatch 2’s dynamic gameplay with iconic anime themes, ensuring fans have plenty to look forward to in the coming updates.
