Patch 2.0.1 has finally resolved the issue with lost unlockables from the previous update, Patch 2.0.0, for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on PS5. However, to regain these lost items, players will need to load a save made before April 3.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered’s PC version launched with much better reception compared to earlier releases in the series. While the game’s arrival on PC brought excitement, the PS5 version, updated in January 2024, received a considerable enhancement with Patch 2.0.0. This update introduced exciting content, such as new characters, maps, trophies, and a Heretic Prophet-inspired cosmetic item. Despite these additions, it also created a bug that messed up players’ progress with unlockables. Patch 2.0.1 now rectifies this problem, ensuring players can access their lost items.
Naughty Dog, being aware of the issue, advised players not to overwrite existing saves after the buggy patch went live. The latest fix will restore campaign mode items like weapon holsters and skill points, but only for players who have saved prior to the problematic patch. Unfortunately, those who continued saving after the issue arose may still face difficulties accessing those items. The developers are also working on fixing a similar issue in the No Return mode of the game.
On the flip side, the PC release of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered sidestepped the stumbling block that its predecessor encountered. The initial PC launch in 2023 for The Last of Us Part 1 had been troublesome with technical glitches. Thankfully, the sequel didn’t face such troubles; its debut has been met with “Very Positive” reviews on Steam, thanks to over 4,900 players who weighed in with their thoughts.
The timing of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered’s PC debut seems opportune, especially with the second season of The Last of Us television series set to premiere on April 13.
