During the 2025 Action Briefing event, Renegade Games unveiled an exciting update to their Axis & Allies historical tabletop game lineup. This renowned series, which transports players into the shoes of major military forces during the World Wars, is getting a significant refresh this year. We can look forward to four major releases: a completely new theater of war, the return of a beloved classic, an opulent deluxe battlemap, and a foray into the realm of fantasy with their Powered by Axis & Allies line.
Standing out as the highlight of the Action Briefing, the announcement of Axis & Allies: Stalingrad stole the show. Designed by industry veterans Matt Hyra and Larry Harris, this new game captures the intensity of one of World War II’s deadliest battles. Since acquiring the Axis & Allies license back in 2022, Renegade Games has been all ears, seeking input from dedicated fans about which historical settings they’d like to see recreated. Interestingly, Stalingrad was the second most-requested location, trailing only behind A&A: North Africa, which hit the shelves in 2024.
In another exciting development, Renegade revealed plans to bring back the much-loved A&A: Battle of the Bulge. While not brand new—it first appeared in 2006—this two-player game artfully illustrates the pivotal clash that contributed to the downfall of Nazi Germany. One player leads the Allies while the other commands the Axis forces. The publisher noted that the game would retain its original version, without any major changes.
Beyond these two focal points, Renegade isn’t done yet. They’re reminding fans of some other notable releases landing this year. Among them is Axis & Allies: Battle for the Deep—a fantasy game that dives into an underwater setting where four aquatic factions have been locked in conflict for centuries. Scheduled for a February launch, this four-player game continues the innovative Powered by Axis & Allies series, which creatively adapts the core A&A mechanics to non-historical contexts. It’s building on the inspiration of last year’s release, G.I. JOE: Battle for the Arctic Circle.
To top it all off, Renegade is also rolling out a new 1914 edition of its expansive Deluxe Map. Similar to their 1940 Global Deluxe Map, this impressive neoprene creation spans over four feet and details crucial world conflict zones of the war. All of these eagerly anticipated products are already up for pre-order on the Renegade Games website.
