Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is about to make its debut in virtual reality, and fans of the series can look forward to an exclusive launch on the Quest 3 and 3S next week.
In an exciting collaboration with Meta, Playside Studios has developed Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – VR, which will hit the Quest platform on April 10th. Whether you enjoy playing solo or competing with others, the game offers both options as you strategize with fellow Quest 3 users.
Mirroring the gameplay mechanics of its PC and console counterparts, your mission in Civilization VII – VR is to steer your nation through various historical eras. You’ll select a leader and decide whether to forge alliances or go head-to-head with other global powers.
For those new to the Civilization series, this VR version introduces the concept of picking a starting age, each bringing its own blend of challenges and opportunities. From laying the groundwork in the Antiquity Age to exploring new territories in the Exploration Age or pushing technological boundaries in the Modern Age, there’s plenty to engage players.
What truly distinguishes the VR experience is the impressive ‘War Table.’ Imagine commanding your civilization as if you were playing a sophisticated tabletop game, with the ability to zoom in, out, and adjust the viewpoint for the best strategy planning.
You’ll find yourself navigating through rival civilizations and confronting both AI and human contenders. Will you use diplomatic skills to foster peace, or will you gear up for conflict?
Additionally, the game features both virtual reality and mixed reality modes. The latter makes use of passthrough technology, so you can stay aware of your actual surroundings while immersed in the game.
Already getting buzz, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – VR is open for preorder on the Horizon Store. Available for Quest 3 and Quest 3S, it’s priced at $60 and promises an engaging new way to experience this iconic game.
