Green Hell VR, developed by Incuvo in 2022, is bringing an exciting new feature to fans: the long-anticipated co-op mode is set to arrive this month on Quest and PSVR 2. Based on the successful open-world survival game, this adaptation has been eagerly awaited by players eager to team up in the virtual jungle.
Originally announced back in April 2023, the co-op mode is finally set to roll out on December 16th, offering a free update for those who own the game on PSVR 2, Quest 2, Quest 3, and the recent 3S. This new edition enhances the intense solo experience by allowing groups of up to four players to join forces. Whether they’re hunting for food, defending against dangerous predators with melee and ranged weapons, or building shelters to stand against environmental threats, players can now support each other in new ways. A clever addition is the visual cues given to players in need of healing, enabling teammates to spot and remove bothersome parasites like leeches.
However, there’s a catch—players hoping for cross-play capability will be disappointed. For now, there’s no support for playing across different platforms, including PC to VR or between Quest and PSVR 2. Addressing this, the studio explained in a post on X that focusing on developing the multiplayer update took precedence, although they assured players that cross-play remains on their radar for the future.
Incuvo’s CEO, Andrzej Wychowaniec, expressed the importance of this new feature, stating, “Bringing co-op to Meta Quest and PSVR2 is extremely important to our VR community, and we know they have been waiting for this feature since we first launched the game on those platforms. Still, we had to ensure it lived up to their expectations for an immersive, co-op survival experience.”
As for the SteamVR version, there’s no confirmation on whether it will receive the co-op update. The PC VR version hasn’t seen much attention since its last update in late 2022, as the studio seems to have prioritized the expansion ‘Spirits of Amazonia Part I’ on Quest and PSVR 2. Fans on Steam might have to hold onto hope a bit longer or seek their adventures on other platforms.
