EA Sports FC 25 has just rolled out a substantial update known as First Frost, bringing a slew of changes as we gear up for the holiday season. This update includes several new features and makes numerous adjustments in response to player feedback.
EA’s no stranger to dropping major updates around this time of year. In the past, they’ve featured quirky red and blue characters in videos highlighting changes in EA Sports FC 24’s holiday update. Unfortunately, unless they make a surprise appearance later, those quirky robo-ballers are taking a break this year.
In a detailed blog post, EA explained that with the First Frost update, they aim to tackle community feedback spanning most game areas, while also introducing fresh strategic and personalized elements to the gameplay.
One of the standout features in this update is the introduction of two new FC IQ player roles, along with tweaks to existing ones. The new roles include a “Classic 10” CAM, letting you play as a traditional attacking midfielder who acts as the main cog in your attacking play, and a “Wide Half” CDM, which is a defensive player focusing on the pitch’s flanks, aiding in both defense and build-up.
Additionally, some new features will accompany server releases and squad updates following First Frost going live. Expect new Ultimate Team player items, Max Tactics, and Winter Match house rules for UT friendlies. Plus, there are two celebratory moves inspired by Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dusan Vlahović, along with a festive rehaul of the main menu theme.
But wait, there’s more! Various modes and general gameplay elements have been adjusted according to player feedback. For instance, Rush matches in Ultimate Team will be shorter, now running for only five minutes instead of seven. Gameplay improvements, like enhanced defensive logic for countering attacks from the start, AI attackers registering offsides faster, and easing the difficulty of executing some skills with two-star players, aim to heighten your match experience.
EA also mentioned they’re exploring areas like corner goals, first-time power shots, first-time lobbed through passes, and jog dribbles for future updates. Changes in clubs and career modes include new double XP events and facilities for clubs, along with youth player development adjustments for career mode. If you’re into those modes, make sure to check out the full update notes.
