Nintendo has emphasized the importance of exclusive games as it gears up for the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. This came to light during a recent exchange at a shareholder meeting, where a question was raised about the future release of games for the existing Nintendo Switch once its successor hits the market.
Responding, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa pointed out, “We’ve already announced Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond as part of our lineup for the Nintendo Switch, with both titles slated for a 2025 release. Given the extensive user base of the current Switch, we aim to continue developing and launching exciting new games.”
However, Furukawa didn’t shy away from highlighting the significance of exclusive titles for new hardware. “When it comes to new console launches,” he stressed, “exclusive games play a vital role. We’re exploring different strategies to ensure that both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 captivate as many players as possible.”
For those eager to catch a glimpse of what’s in store, more details about the upcoming console will be unveiled during a dedicated Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation. Scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, the broadcast will kick off at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BST / 3pm CEST.
While the Nintendo Switch 2 is set for a worldwide release in 2025, the exact launch date is still under wraps. Keep your eyes peeled for further updates and announcements!
