Imagine being able to wander around a movie set from your couch. Sounds surreal, right? Well, it’s about to become your reality. Welcome to a behind-the-scenes adventure where you get to explore film sets, stunts, and actors, all guided by none other than director Eli Roth himself.
I’m thrilled to share an amazing new video exclusive on io9, featuring scenes from the set of the forthcoming video game-inspired movie, Borderlands. In partnership with Light Sail VR, Roth captured breathtaking footage alongside a star-studded lineup that includes Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and Ariana Greenblatt. Even though this footage is optimized for VR, it’s also a treat to watch in standard 2D.
In his words, Roth enthused, “I’ve always been fascinated by VR and started using a GoPro 360 back in 2018. When the pandemic hit, in-person set visits were off the table, so I wanted to give fans a real taste of what working on Borderlands was like. You’ll witness the extraordinary sets our Budapest art team crafted, see the actors in action, and watch Cate Blanchett and Ariana Greenblatt pull off impressive stunts from high above. Collaborating with my friends at Light Sail VR, we’ve crafted a thrilling experience that places you in the heart of the action, capturing the essence and vibrancy of our set.”
Check it out for yourself.
