Yorutouge immerses you in a vibrant psychedelic adventure within the world of VRChat, blending exhilarating Vocaloid beats with an electrifying rave atmosphere. Created by VR_SMEJ and inspired by the music of renowned Vocaloid artist Kikuo, this 20-minute experience is crafted to lift your spirits. As the creators explain, “We envisioned this as a ‘manic stopping point’ for those moments when life feels a bit foggy or burdensome.”
During the recent NewImages Festival 2025, I had the opportunity to dive into this experience through the XR Market, which featured Yorutouge among its 14 diverse entries in the XR Competition. Alongside four other participants, we began our journey in a fantastical cave setting that seamlessly transitioned into a surreal feast for the senses. With Kikuo taking on the role of DJ, we danced through a sequence of five lively tracks, each matched by ever-changing and captivating visuals.
What truly stands out is the way the visual spectacle engulfs the entire space, elevating it far above a typical disco encounter. However, a word of caution: those sensitive to flashing lights should steer clear. The music selection keeps the energy high, and the ambiance is nothing short of infectious, thanks to an array of meticulously designed environments that continually surprise and delight.
