Acer has just introduced a new range of graphics cards, adding six variants to its Radeon RX 9070 series, including base and overclocked versions that can reach boost clocks of up to 3.1 GHz.
In a fresh announcement, Acer unveiled its BiFrost and Nitro editions for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070, positioning these new entries in the competitive graphics card arena. While Acer has a history of making AMD graphics cards, they aren’t always as prominent as some of AMD’s main partners. This launch, however, marks a significant step, with a total of six models being rolled out—three dedicated to each series.
The new offerings feature two Nitro versions aimed at the more mainstream audience for both the Radeon RX 9070 XT and the RX 9070. Additionally, there’s the BiFrost edition, known for its superior design and cooling capabilities. The Nitro series balances great performance with affordability, while the BiFrost line focuses on enhanced aesthetics and optimized cooling.
Diving into the details, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB catches the eye with its sleek, triple-fan cooling system. It’s adorned with sophisticated design elements, including FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans and an innovative counter-spin feature that efficiently disperses heat. This card stretches about 295 mm in length and occupies a 2.5-slot space. Its factory overclocking allows it to hit a remarkable 3.1 GHz, delivering top-tier gaming performance.
Meanwhile, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB mirrors its XT counterpart in design but operates with just two 8-pin power connectors, unlike the XT’s three. In terms of power consumption, both are rated at 340W, which is interesting since the default RX 9070 typically requires less power. While the dual 8-pin connectors and the PCI-E x16 slot together provide sufficient power, there’s limited capacity for overclocking compared to the XT model.
Turning to the Nitro collection, Acer delivers both OC and non-OC models for the RX 9070 series. The Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC also boasts a robust triple-fan setup and hits the 3.1 GHz boost clock mark, with the same 2.5-slot dimension and length as the BiFrost. It’s built with three 8-pin power connectors and has a TDP of 340W. The non-OC variant, with a 304W rating, still retains the three power connectors but maxes out at 2970 MHz in boost mode and up to 2.4 GHz during gameplay.
The final duo, the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and RX 9070 16 GB, reach clock speeds of 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz, respectively. The overclocked model consumes 245W, while the non-OC version uses 220W, although both share a similar design aesthetic.
While Acer hasn’t disclosed the entire lineup’s pricing, they’ve listed the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB at a hefty $829.99. Naturally, the BiFrost editions are expected to fetch even higher prices. As for availability, details are sparse, but they noted that the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC is slated for an April release in the U.S.
