Marvel Rivals has just rolled out an update packed with festive vibes as it gears up for the much-anticipated Winter Celebration event. The game has enjoyed a tremendous success since its official launch on December 6, attracting over 10 million players on Steam within the first 72 hours alone. Marvel Rivals’ charm lies in its unique blend of Overwatch-style multiplayer shooter mechanics paired with an array of Marvel heroes and villains. From iconic figures like Iron Man and Captain America to lesser-known characters such as Luna Snow and Jeff the Land Shark, everyone can find a favorite.
As with most live-service multiplayer games, developer NetEase is committed to delivering ongoing support and fresh content for Marvel Rivals. They’re already teasing potential story arcs with villain Knull and the promise of new characters being added as playable heroes. Enthusiastic fans have even started to come up with their own ideas and concept art, hoping to see characters like Cyclops and Gambit make an appearance in future updates.
To celebrate both the holiday spirit and Marvel Rivals’ early success, NetEase has introduced a major update in preparation for the upcoming winter-themed event scheduled to begin on December 20. This notable update, now ready for download, tackles numerous bugs and glitches, especially those related to certain character abilities such as Doctor Strange’s Portal Power and Jeff the Shark’s Ultimate move.
Focusing on Jeff the Land Shark, the new Marvel Rivals update also sets the stage for the "Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival" event, which is slated to run from December 20 until January 9. Players will navigate Yggsgard’s Royal Palace map as Jeff, spreading snowflakes around the garden. Additionally, Jeff will feature a charming winter-themed skin that’s free to unlock during the event. Other characters like Venom, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, and Magik will also get exclusive holiday skins, available for a limited time.
During Marvel Rivals’ Winter Celebration, players can earn Gold and Silver Frost through missions. These can be exchanged for holiday-themed greeting card decorations. Prior to the event, NetEase is prepping players with updates that enhance network stability and address issues like collision detection and convoy mission performance.
