Hey gamers! We’re on the brink of something exciting—Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is dropping on PC tomorrow! Get ready to swing into action with Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they face off against iconic villains like Venom and Kraven the Hunter.
With the launch almost here, I can’t wait to dive into the fantastic new PC features that the team at Nixxes has been crafting.
In this new chapter, developed by Insomniac in partnership with Marvel, the game is set to be a technical and visual marvel, especially with its use of ray tracing. The skyline of Marvel’s New York looks more alive than ever before on PC, thanks to a range of ray tracing options that can be finely tuned to suit various hardware setups.
As you swing past the city’s skyscrapers, the ray-traced reflections are absolutely stunning, adding depth with realistic shadows from ray-traced interiors and ambient occlusion settings. If you happen to have a beast of a machine, we offer even greater detail with increased ray tracing geometry settings and a nifty slider to expand the range for objects considered for ray tracing. Plus, thanks to NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction1, the quality of ray tracing on supported hardware gets a major boost. Here’s Menno Bil, a Graphics Programmer at Nixxes, to give us more insight:
“NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction cleverly combines denoising and upscaling processes within each frame. By doing this, it preserves more detail over several frames, enriching the ray tracing effects which might otherwise be lost. In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC, ray reconstruction means more detailed reflections and sharper shadows, especially when viewing angles are steep. It also gives us clearer interiors with less ghosting and noise in ambient occlusion. We’ve included two options for this technology: the initial model from DLSS 3.5 and a new variant for RTX 40 series GPUs and up. This new variant offers an even more stable image temporally, enhancing the visual fidelity of ray tracing significantly.” – Menno Bil, Graphics Programmer, Nixxes
For those with ultra-wide monitors, fear not! We’ve got full support for 21:9, 32:9, and even the epic 48:9 aspect ratios when using multiple monitors. Our team has worked hard to ensure that all in-game cinematics adapt perfectly up to 32:9.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is also equipped with performance-enhancing tech like NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3.1 upscaling, and Intel XeSS. We’re committed to delivering a top-notch experience, leveraging the power of premium gaming setups to their fullest potential. But don’t worry if you have an older system—we’ve included a spectrum of graphics settings and presets for you, including options without ray tracing, like dynamic resolution scaling. Check out our recommended specs for different graphics settings.
There are two editions available when it hits PC on January 30: the Standard Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition (DDE). And if you own the Standard Edition already, there’s an upgrade option for the deluxe content.
For those jumping in early, we’ve got some great perks lined up. Expect early access to unique suits, including the Arachknight Suit for Peter and the Shadow-Spider Suit for Miles, among other goodies, all thanks to the Pre-Purchase bonuses. Plus, by connecting to a PlayStation Network account, you can unlock additional suits and features. However, a PlayStation Network account is completely optional.
Insomniac is also teaming up with NetEase Games and Marvel Games to bring Peter’s Advanced Suit 2.0 from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 into Marvel Rivals. You can grab this stylish outfit starting at 6 PM PST on January 29.
We, alongside our friends at Insomniac, PlayStation, and Marvel Games, are thrilled for you to experience Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC. Get ready to swing into action!
