For those eagerly awaiting NVIDIA’s latest powerhouse GPUs, the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, it looks like patience is key if you’re planning to purchase from Overclockers UK.
Availability Update: RTX 5090 May Take 3–16 Weeks to Restock, While RTX 5080 Could Return in About 2–6 Weeks
The rollout of the NVIDIA RTX 50 series has been nothing short of chaotic, a situation many are referring to as a "paper launch." Some retailers never even received a single RTX 5090 card in their initial shipments, let alone the bulk needed to meet demand. Even those with some stock were swiftly wiped out. Within minutes of the launch, the entire inventory of RTX 5090 GPUs was gone, and the RTX 5080 followed closely behind despite being slightly more available.
If you’re set on snagging one of these GPUs, prepare yourself for a bit of a wait. Overclockers UK has announced that both the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 have sold out, and unfortunately, no more pre-orders are being accepted for the time being. So, when can we expect these hot-ticket items to return to the shelves?
According to Overclockers UK, the RTX 5090 is anticipated to roll back into stock anywhere from 3 to 16 weeks from now. As for the RTX 5080, it’s expected to take between 2 to 6 weeks. Should the longest wait for the RTX 5090 become reality, we’re looking at a May 2025 timeframe for availability. By that time, NVIDIA will have already launched the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070, scheduled for February 20th and March, respectively.
As a representative from Overclockers UK outlined on their stock update dated January 31, 2025: "Given the soaring demand and limited supplies, all 50 Series cards were snapped up soon after launch, with a handful of pre-orders taken in tightly controlled numbers."
Despite a better chance for worldwide access, the RTX 5080’s stock still fell woefully short of demand. Though it doesn’t boast the same generational leaps as the RTX 5090, its price parity with the RTX 4080, Super made it a highly attractive option for consumers. This desirability meant queues formed outside shops, with some retailers even resorting to lottery tickets to decide who could purchase these GPUs.
If your order is pending with Overclockers UK and you’ve yet to receive a confirmation email, it’s possible you may be stuck in the pre-order limbo. This bottleneck is why pre-orders have been stopped for now. While it’s unclear exactly when these GPUs will restock across other global retailers, one thing’s for sure—it’s not happening overnight.
