Almost as soon as Nintendo announced the release date of the Switch 2, they had to hit pause on preorders for customers in the U.S. and Canada thanks to one of Donald Trump’s tariff decisions. Fortunately, the tariffs were eventually pushed back until after the Switch 2 launch, and now Nintendo has shared when eager buyers in North America can start their race against the scalpers.
Mark your calendars for April 24, 2025, as that’s when retail pre-orders for the Switch 2 will open up. The great news is that pricing remains stable: you can snag the Switch 2 itself for $449.99, or go for the Switch 2 bundled with Mario Kart World for $499.99.
For those eyeing new game releases, both physical and digital versions of Mario Kart World will launch at $79.99, while Donkey Kong Bananza will be available for $69.99, sticking to their initially announced prices.
However, not everything is smooth sailing. Nintendo has decided to tweak the prices for Switch 2 accessories from their initial April 2nd announcements, citing “changes in market conditions.” Plus, there’s more…
Future pricing changes for any Nintendo product could arise as well, again depending on how the market shifts. For the latest product and pricing details, keep an eye on www.nintendo.com.
Sure, price changes can happen anytime, but given the current economic climate in the U.S., it seems more likely than usual.
Still, it’s a relief to know when we’ll have a shot at securing a Nintendo Switch 2. Make sure to head over to Nintendo.com and sign up to preorder if you can, ensuring you have a fighting chance against the scalpers come next Thursday.
