It seems like the once-prized PS5 Activity Cards have lost their charm and functionality. Initially promoted as a key feature before the console’s launch, these cards are increasingly becoming irrelevant. Not too long ago, we covered the quiet removal of the ‘Resume Activity’ feature, a decision made after a long period of lukewarm reception. Now, it appears the Activity Cards themselves are falling short of their intended purpose.
What’s happening with PS5 Activity Cards?
In the beginning, PS5 Activity Cards offered handy insights, displaying details like how much you’ve completed of a mission or where you left off in a particular game. But lately, it seems like several games are showing Activity Cards stuck at 0% progress, regardless of a player’s actual progress in various missions or activities.
Take my experience with Final Fantasy XVI, for instance. I’ve noticed similar frustrations being shared by players of Alan Wake II. The cards even suggest activities I’ve already completed but fail to provide any helpful details. Clicking on these cards only lands you on the game’s title screen, largely because Sony pulled the Resume Activity feature entirely.
It’s even stranger when some games have Activity Cards that merely list trophies. This seems redundant given the many ways we already have to track our trophy progress. The last thing gamers need is a clutter of unnecessary tiles repeating information already accessible elsewhere.
Right now, these Activity Cards aren’t contributing much and are just taking up valuable real estate on the PS5 interface. I suspect many players would prefer seeing them removed entirely to make way for something more beneficial and less cluttered.
