From February 4 at 10 a.m. to February 18 at 10 a.m. PST, players in both Seasonal and Eternal Realms can dive into the mysteries of the Lunar Awakening limited-time event. A strange phenomenon is currently unfolding across the shrines of Sanctuary, imbuing them with remarkable and flourishing power. This intriguing event is believed to be a blessing from the Ancestors, who are celebrating alongside participants from beyond the grave.
By activating any Shrine found in Sanctuary, including Nahantu, players can enjoy a 100% bonus experience, multiplied for two minutes. Alongside this, there’s a boost in power and the opportunity to accumulate Ancestral Favor Reputation.
To immerse yourself fully in Lunar Awakening festivities, journey to Ked Bardu and make your way to the town’s Northern section. There, you’ll encounter Ying-Yue, the head of the Lunar Night Market, your central hub during this event. Here, players can trade their Ancestral Favor Reputation for Unceasing Gifts from the Ancestors caches and a selection of decorative rewards themed around Lunar Renewal.
As you explore Sanctuary, you’ll find Lunar Shrines scattered throughout—fight your way through dungeons and wildlands, activating these shrines and battling monsters to rack up a wealth of Ancestral Favor Reputation.
The Lunar Shrines, now vibrating with the potent energies bestowed by ancestral spirits, are a signature feature of the Lunar Awakening. All shrines have been transformed into Lunar Shrines to honor the year of the snake, bestowing a doubled experience bonus upon activation. Keeping an eye out is easier than ever, thanks to their new distinct map icon.
Besides granting doubled experience, these shrines offer unique bonus effects. Here’s a glimpse at what each offers:
- Artillery Shrine: Attacks may trigger a holy bomb.
- Blast Wave Shrine: Explosions can lead to cluster bombardments.
- Channeling Shrine: Enhances attack speed and provides a chance to reset cooldowns.
- Conduit Shrine: Unleashes frequent, potent shocking strikes.
- Greed Shrine: Offers a chance to summon a Treasure Goblin. As the shrine remains active, kills will bring forth more goblins.
- Lethal Shrine: Provides a chance to execute a hit monster instantly, spreading Fear among nearby foes (this affects Elites but doesn’t apply to Bosses or other players).
- Protection Shrine: Reflects all incoming damage at a level and difficulty-scaled rate.
When these shrines are activated, Miserly Spirits immediately appear, giving you a chance to maximize shrine-specific gameplay enhancements right away.
Earning Ancestral Favor Reputation is your ticket to great rewards, with ten levels available in total. These include gifts like a Resplendent Spark and six unique Lunar-themed cosmetic items to unlock, including the new Trag’Oul’s Consort mount. Once you’ve cleared these reputation levels, you can keep accumulating more rewards through the Unceasing Gifts from the Ancestors.
Additionally, you’ll find Lunar Awakening themed garments available at Tejal’s shop. Here you can kit out your wanderer with elegant armor cosmetics like the Scholar of the Lonely Moon for the Sorcerer, and deck your steed with the Dragon of the Lonely Moon mount armor.
