The dedicated team working on Skyblivion, an ambitious project to recreate The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion using Skyrim’s engine, has exciting news—they’ve completed the landscaping for every area of their reimagined Cyrodiil map.
There’s still quite a bit to do before they can reach their target release in 2025, but this milestone is a significant step forward. The team shared in a recent tweet that with the completion of the Niben Basin and Valley, every corner of Cyrodiil has been landscaped at least once. Their next task? To refine these areas and elevate them to a higher level of quality.
This progress comes shortly after Skyblivion’s team announced in their monthly update video that they were nearly finished with the world map, with only the Nibenay region along Cyrodiil’s Eastern border left on the agenda. Well, that box is now checked!
However, completing the landscape is far from the finish line. The team has hinted at additional tasks like navmeshing, which ensures characters can move around the world smoothly. Without this, NPCs might find themselves bumping into obstacles or getting stuck, much like they occasionally do in vanilla Skyrim or Oblivion.
Moreover, last month, they emphasized the ongoing work on interiors, placing a priority on quest locations that demand more time and creativity compared to more generic interiors. At that time, six quests still needed to be started.
Skyblivion is calling for more volunteers with skills that can contribute to bringing this project to life. If you’re interested in helping out, they’ve opened up applications.
Excited about these updates? We’d love to hear your thoughts! Also, stay tuned for more on Skyblivion right here.
