A fresh mod for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has brought the now-canon Super Saiyan 4 transformation to life, straight from the recent episode of Dragon Ball: Daima. Originally seen in the late 90s anime, Dragon Ball GT, the Super Saiyan 4 form had been absent from official Dragon Ball series since GT was deemed non-canon. However, this transformation did find its way into various Dragon Ball games over the years, including last year’s version of Sparking Zero.
This longstanding absence ended with a stunning twist in the latest Dragon Ball: Daima episode, where Goku underwent a modified Super Saiyan 4 transformation during an epic showdown against Majin Gomah. This series was among the final projects overseen by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama before his passing in March, which now firmly establishes Goku’s new transformation as part of the series’ official lore, just like Vegeta’s long-awaited Super Saiyan 3 form.
Fans of Dragon Ball were thrilled to welcome this iconic transformation into the series’ canon. Some enthusiasts quickly went to work, developing mods to integrate the upgraded Super Saiyan 4 into Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. One such fan, EmiG84, responded to a call for mods and conjured a unique version of SSJ4 for Sparking Zero, which features a younger Goku, as opposed to the adult form known from Dragon Ball GT. This creation was showcased in a YouTube video, displaying the mod’s action-packed features.
Adding to the buzz, EmiG84 is also exploring the possibility of crafting a Super Saiyan 4 mod for Vegeta, even though Daima hasn’t depicted the Saiyan prince in this form just yet. They aren’t alone, as a similar mod by GameBanana’s Loryan YT morphs the original adult SSJ4 Goku to more closely align with his new canon appearance.
Currently, EmiG84’s Super Saiyan 4 Goku mod is accessible via their Patreon page, though there is speculation that an official DLC release for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero could soon incorporate these features. The base version of the character, styled after his youthful Daima incarnation, was a pre-order incentive. Fans can anticipate more characters from the fresh anime making their way to Sparking Zero later this year through upcoming DLCs.
Speaking of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, it elevates the beloved gameplay from the Budokai Tenkaichi series, allowing players to channel their inner warriors and engage in high-octane, visually stunning battles reminiscent of the anime. With over 180 fighters spanning Dragon Ball Z, Super, GT, and selected movies, each character brings unique abilities and transformations to the table. Whether it’s fierce online playoffs or local matches with friends, players can explore various tournament modes and scenarios, rewriting iconic battles with their favorite Z-Fighters.
On the technical front, the game is playable on systems like PlayStation and Xbox, with its official launch back in October 2024. Rated T for Teen due to some mild language, suggestive themes, and violence, Namco Bandai ensures the epic Dragon Ball legacy continues to captivate fans old and new.
