With the Episode: Revenant update dropping in October 2024, Bungie has rolled out some intriguing changes in Destiny 2. Players can now spot which activities are highlighted right on the map thanks to a handy icon. Excitingly, there are two featured raids and dungeons each week now. However, if you’re the planning type, you might find it frustrating that Destiny 2 keeps mum about which ones are coming up in future weeks.
In this handy guide, we’ll dive into why it’s important to know which raids and dungeons are spotlighted and even provide you with a weekly calendar of these thrilling endgame activities. Remember, these activities take turns swapping in and out every Tuesday with the weekly reset.
### What’s the deal with this week’s raid rotation in Destiny 2?
Every week, Destiny 2 brings us two featured raids. They’re cycled in a clever staggered sequence, so there’s a bit of excitement and unpredictability to look forward to. Interestingly, the newest raid, Salvation’s Edge, doesn’t make the rotation cut yet. It’ll wait its turn until a new raid appears on the horizon.
It’s worth mentioning that Heresy hasn’t quite settled into a predictable pattern yet. We’ve decided to keep a record of the featured raids from previous weeks for the curious among us.
### Checking out the dungeon rotation this week in Destiny 2
When it comes to dungeons, Bungie has us covered with two featured ones each week, cycling through an established sequence. Just like the new raid, the latest dungeon—aptly named Sundered Doctrine—is also holding back from joining the rotation. It, too, will step in only when another shiny new dungeon shows up.
Again, as with raids, Heresy isn’t predictable just yet, but we’re keeping past weeks documented for posterity.
### Why does it matter if a raid or dungeon is featured?
In Destiny 2, different activities rotate weekly, but the crème de la crème are those endgame activities: raids and dungeons. For the newcomers, raids are intense six-player challenges widely recognized as the toughest in the Destiny universe. Dungeons, while tough, require just three Guardians and offer a more manageable challenge—suitable even for solo players once they’re familiar with the ropes.
When a raid or dungeon gets the “featured” spotlight, completing it rewards you with a Pinnacle Power loot piece, and you can get more loot by doing the encounters repeatedly. For instance, when the famed Last Wish raid is featured, it becomes prime time to dive back in, tackle each encounter as many times as you like, and maybe even score that elusive weapon pattern you’ve been eyeing. This makes a featured outing quite different from your average raid, where you’re usually limited to a single loot drop per week.
Keep in mind, though, that each Tuesday brings a rotation, ushering in a fresh featured raid or dungeon. Just a heads up, the game’s most recent raid and dungeon can’t be featured yet, although they do promise pinnacle gear rewards every week—a nice little bonus for Guardian adventurers.
