At NeocoreGames, we’re thrilled to announce that King Arthur: Legion IX is making its way to Xbox Series X|S. This game offers a gripping turn-based tactical RPG experience rooted in the dark fantasy realm introduced in King Arthur: Knight’s Tale. Whether you’re a seasoned strategist or stepping into Avalon for the first time, you’ll find plenty to explore in this standalone adventure—including fresh heroes, a captivating new storyline, and of course, numerous intense battles to conquer.
Now, let’s dive into what makes King Arthur: Legion IX compelling. Picture this: Avalon is in peril yet again. But this time, the threat is not what you’d expect—it’s the legendary Ninth Legion of Rome, emerging from the haunting depths of Tartarus. They’re led by Gaius Julius Mento, once a proud Roman tribune, now a commander of demonic forces bestowed by the deceased emperor, Septimus Sulla. Hungry for power, Gaius aims to conquer Avalon and fashion an Eternal Rome, but first, he needs to gather his fragmented legion.
You’ll take the role of Gaius Julius Mento and lead the Ninth Legion on a Roman-themed campaign through Avalon’s tumultuous terrain. Battle against nightmarish creatures, engage in skirmishes with fierce Pict tribes, and confront ancient beings like the Fomorians and Sídhe. You might also find yourself facing off against Sir Mordred’s Round Table knights, a nod to King Arthur: Knight’s Tale. With fifteen carefully crafted missions, every choice you make will shape Gaius’ destiny.
In terms of gameplay, expect a rich blend of strategic combat and role-playing elements. You can control a squad of five to six unique heroes in tactical battles, where positioning, traps, and strategic manoeuvres can turn the tide in your favor. Also, mastering the overwatch and opportunity mechanics is crucial for gaining the upper hand during battles.
The game introduces six distinct heroes, each with their own unique skills and gameplay styles. As you progress, you’ll level them up, unlock skill trees, and equip them with powerful artifacts. You have the freedom to build your team to suit your strategic preferences, whether that’s a cautious approach or an aggressive charge into battle.
As you take on Avalon, you’ll also need a stronghold to operate from. The rebuilding of Nova Roma is a key aspect of the game, requiring you to manage resources, upgrade buildings, and prepare your heroes for upcoming challenges.
Perhaps most intriguing is how your decisions will affect the story. The choices you make throughout the campaign will influence not just Gaius’ fate, but the entire narrative of Avalon. Are you ready to lead the Ninth Legion? We can’t wait to see you on the battlefield come May 6, 2025.
