It’s been a while, but the Savage Planet series isn’t done with us yet! We’re diving into the second installment thanks to the same creative minds, the same brand, and the original team, now under a new banner: Raccoon Logic.
Once known as Typhoon Studios, we were responsible for Journey to the Savage Planet, which hit the shelves in 2020 and can currently be found in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. Now, we’re gearing up to launch Revenge of the Savage Planet, an exciting co-op sci-fi adventure with survival elements and plenty of humor. Get ready, because it’s touching down on PS5 and PS4 in May 2025.
Gear up to establish and tweak your own base, traverse the alien terrain, and you’ll want to scan and record everything to crack the survival code. This sequel expands the universe with more planets, giving you a lively setting full of potential. The game starts with co-op play and offers a fresh third-person view. Explore four dazzling planets, where you can run, jump, shoot, and gather resources. Build and enhance your abilities while uncovering hidden surprises along this alien journey.
Today, we’re unveiling the fifth, secret planet, where you’ll encounter some wildly unnatural creatures. Our team members are also eager to delve into the design inspirations that shaped this extraordinary addition.
Before we get ahead of ourselves, jump into the video below!
In this new dimension, exploration is critical! Capture critters, swim across lakes, scale mountains, grind on rails, and uncover a secret lair of enjoyment. Our fifth adventure world presents an interior layer, diverging from our open natural landscapes, making our universe delightfully unpredictable! Here’s some insight from our team:
### A Retro Arcades and 90s Entertainment-Inspired World
“Crammed with fresh challenges, quirky vertical landscapes, and one-of-a-kind creatures, this ultimate world ties up all the loose ends.”
— Reid Schneider, Studio Head
“Our digital contrast serves as a storytelling device to heighten the mystery beyond our planets’ natural views. We convey Slappi’s character through the eerie and perilous lair he crafted. Naturally, our quirky alien creatures make a return, maintaining our signature style.”
— Steve Masters, Lead Designer
“The sound design shifted gears too, contrasting our tools with a distinctly digital vibe. Initially, it sounded like a blend of pinball and game shows, but it transformed into an immersive digital experience with playful 8-bit sparkles.”
— Cameron Jarvis, Audio Director
“We aimed to amplify entertainment value with intriguing, robot-like toys reminding us how fun they could be. Drawing from various retro arcade gaming inspirations, we shaped a nostalgic atmosphere dramatized by a hard-surface modeling aesthetic and retro neon colors, paying tribute to 90s pop culture.”
— Erick Bilodeau, Art Director
### Local and Online Co-op
In Revenge of the Savage Planet, you have several gameplay options, including online co-op with cross-play and couch co-op for a shared screen experience. But if solo play is more your speed, we’ve got you covered with a single-player mode too!
“Our systematic design method fosters remarkable interactions and surprises for you to investigate and play around with, embedded in the game world, its characters, and your whole experience. Each session uncovers something new and distinctive.”
— Noemie L’Ecuyer, Producer
Don’t forget to add the game to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store! Stay in the know about the May launch week offers, including an in-game trash panda outfit and a launch discount. More details about pre-orders and purchasing will roll out soon.
