Godzilla has made an epic entrance into Fortnite as a formidable in-game boss, bringing chaos and mayhem as he stomps through the map.
Players have the chance to transform into Godzilla and wield his devastating abilities, capable of flattening entire towns and other players. It’s a thrilling opportunity, but not an easy one to seize. The secret lies in being the first to find a randomly spawning portal that can only be used by one player per match to morph into this fearsome kaiju.
Let’s dive into the details of how you can track down and become Godzilla in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1.
As of January 18th, there’s been an update: the spawn rate of Godzilla’s portal has been increased, offering players more chances to experience this monster’s power.
### When and Where Godzilla Makes His Appearance in Fortnite
To step into Godzilla’s massive footsteps, you need to locate a special portal and be the first to jump in. However, finding it isn’t straightforward—the portal appears in only 40% of matches, a figure that’s been doubled from its initial 20% chance when Godzilla first roamed Fortnite, according to HYPEX on X.
If the portal does appear, it will pop up in a random spot right as the first Storm Circle begins to close in. Keep an eye out for a security alert flashing on the bottom of your screen, reading “Godzilla Portal is open,” and it’ll include a ping pointing to the portal’s precise spot.
You’ll also want to check your map, where the portal location is marked with a Godzilla icon.
Since the portal shows up fairly early in the game, time isn’t on your side. If it spawns far from your position and there are still many players active, it might be wise to focus on gathering ammo. You’ll need it to take Godzilla down if someone beats you to the portal.
There are a couple of quests you can complete that involve inflicting damage on Godzilla.
To inflict maximum damage, aim for the glowing spikes on Godzilla’s back. Successfully targeting these will boost your damage stats significantly. You can track your progress on the “Damage Inflicted” bar that sits below Godzilla’s health bar.
### Playing as Godzilla in Fortnite
Once you manage to dive into the portal, you’re transformed into Godzilla, gaining three distinct powers to unleash havoc.
And if you feel like being more rudimentary, you can simply crush other players underfoot instead of using the special abilities!
