Insomniac Games has taken a moment to address its passionate fan base eagerly awaiting updates on Marvel’s Wolverine for the PS5. The developer has firmly stated that information about the game will only be revealed when the time is right. They emphasized that fan pressure won’t dictate the timing of their announcements.
A disgruntled comment directed at the studio appeared on Twitter in the midst of a conversation about the PC port of Spider-Man 2. The user criticized Insomniac for supposedly ignoring PS5 players’ pleas for Wolverine news, sarcastically praising them as a “great team.”
It’s pretty rare for Insomniac Games to engage directly with such critiques on social media, but they made an exception this time.
Their response was clear: “We’ll share news about the game when we are ready to share it,” with a noticeable stress on “we.” The message stressed that developing a game is a complex process that demands time, resources, and an official nod before they can disclose any details.
Despite this, Insomniac reassured fans that work on Wolverine is still happening in full swing.
The studio recently faced a formidable challenge when a ransomware attack hit them towards the end of 2023. This breach led to a significant leak of Wolverine’s alpha footage online. Insomniac expressed deep disappointment over the leak but made it clear that this incident has not derailed the game’s development or disrupted their plans for revealing the game to the public.
Marvel’s Wolverine was initially announced back in September 2021, but substantial updates have been sparse. Considering the lengthy development cycles that have become common in the gaming industry, it may take some time before we get a more in-depth look at what they’ve been working on.
